Israel Recoils As
U.S. Backs Nuclear Move

Editorial - May 31st, 2010 - Breitbart.com

The resolution adopted by the United Nations on Friday calls on Israel to join the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and urges it to open its facilities to inspection.

It also calls for a regional conference in 2012 to advance the goal of a nuclear-free Middle East.

Israel is widely believed to be the only nuclear power in the Middle East, with around 200 warheads, but has maintained a policy of deliberate ambiguity about its capabilities since the mid-1960s.

The document, which singles out Israel but makes no mention of Iran's controversial nuclear programme, drew a furious reaction from the Jewish state who decried it as "deeply flawed and hypocritical."

But it was U.S. backing for the resolution which has caused the most consternation among Israeli officials and commentators, who interpreted the move as "a resounding slap around the face" which has dealt a very public blow to Israel's long-accepted policy of nuclear ambiguity.

Barack Obama has become one of the most aggressive proponents of gutting western nuclear capability, both American and Israeli. To what purpose? Only an idiot would doubt that it is consistent with his belief that America is the prime evil in the world. The weaker the west is, the greater the chance that Obama can force America to join a global government that will "protect" America by global unity.

Does Obama not give any credence to the fact that Iran has repeatedly threatened to nuke Tel Aviv, while Israel has never made threats against its neighbors?

I call Obama's global government goal "global idiocy", but who am I to doubt the man who can heal the oceans by his victory in a political campaign.

They should all be held by the NPT, Israel and Iran included. Iran, unlike Israel, is already a party to the NPT.

Since Israel was created in 1947 as a Jewish state during the partition of British Palestine, with the larger Jordan as the Muslim state, the pathological hatred of Jews by Muslims has led to multiple wars. In 1967, Israel conquered all of the Muslim countries. Israel then gave ALL of the land conquered back, except that which was given them in the partition.

The Muslims contiue their demand that Israel cease to exist. Iran has proclaimed they will bomb Israel out of existence as soon as they have nuclear bombs. Even the IAEA admits that Iran violates the NPT at will. Being a party to a Treaty means nothing to a country dominated by a religion that brags it is okay to lie to anyone who is not a Muslim.

If Israel joins the NPT, and obeys its rules, they will not survive 20 years. The German Holocaust will be forgotten in the terror that Muslims will inflict on a defeated Israel.

They won't survive 20 years due to the requirement of disclosure?

Why is it the responsibility of the United States to defend every action (or inaction) of Israel?

And out of curiosity, why do you care?

No. They will not survive the gutless pressure that Obama and leftist Democrats will place on them if they dare acknowledge they have nuclear weapons. As for curiousity, are you truly so indifferent to human life that nuking a few million Jews is something you can dismiss with such arrogant indifference?

I am far from indifferent on the loss of human life. I don't want to see the murder of Jews, Christians, Muslims, or anybody else regardless of their religious or national affiliation.

My concern in the case of Israel is the perceptions others gather from the actions of our country. To quote General Petraeus on the Palestinian issue: "The conflict foments anti-American sentiment, due to a perception of US favoritism for Israel. Arab anger over the Palestinian question limits the strength and depth of US partnerships with governments and peoples in the AOR and weakens the legitimacy of moderate regimes in the Arab world. Meanwhile, al-Qaeda and other militant groups exploit that anger to mobilize support. The conflict also gives Iran influence in the Arab world through its clients, Lebanese Hizballah and Hamas." These same sentiments come from other actions of ours, but are reinforced by our actions on the world stage in defense of Israel. You need to look no further than Monday when the rest of the world condemned Israel for its actions and we stuck to condemning the acts that led to the deaths.

The United States lived for decades with a mortal enemy, both of which had stockpiles of thousands of nuclear weapons. One of the reasons we made it through the cold war was a fear of mutually assured destruction. While I understand there are differences between the cold war and the tensions in the middle east, that same fear likely still exists. You pointed out yourself that Israel's military was more than capable 40 years ago, so I'll stick with the assumption that after decades of US money and weapons they are just as capable of defending themselves. Sure, the Iranians have a tendency to posture, but I expect they have little incentive to act on such brazen comments. Why would they, given that the largest military in the world funds and supports Israel?

It is a delusion to say that Muslim Jihadists have little incentive to use nuclear bombs against Israel.

Arab anger over Palestine will not go away until Israel goes away. It is a tenet of their religion. The lies they spew about how it is Israel's fault have no basis in any sane assesment of the history of their region.

The Iranian influence over Hamas and Hizbollah comes exclusively because they fund these two organizations of hate. Nothing that Israel does or does not do will change that hate. Nor will their actions decrease the risk of the coming holocaust.

Nor can America change that by any act we take, save surrender.

There is no chance that any non Muslim nation can work with any Muslim nation. They are not and never will be our friends. They proclaim that since we are not Muslims they can lie to us and it is perfectly okay. How can you trust anything someone who believes that ever says? Even Saudi Arabia is dedicated to the extermination of America. Their funding of Wahhabi radicals proves that.

I do not believe Muslim extremists have any fear an Obama led America will side with Israel.

You say you don't want the death of anybody. Your arguments on behalf of Muslim extremists tells me that is not true.

If you profess to trust them, no non Muslim can trust you.

My trust is not blindly given out.

I am not attempting to argue for any side, but for an open and fair society without war and hatred.

Thanks.

Your previous responses prove your trust is given blindly.

And your self rigtheous claim of anti-war idealism gets no points from me. War will not be ended by pretending that both sides are equally to blame.

That tactic is simply useless bragging intended to end a discussion and start a new one. There is no way to respond except challenging whether you are a fine person or an evil person. I don't see how that cannnot end in insults which I abhor. So, fine. Lets end it here.
