White House Planning
To Wind Down
Clunkers Program

by Ken Thomas and Dan Strumpf - August 20th, 2009 - Associated Press

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said Wednesday the department would announce within 48 hours how it intends to discontinue the program that offers car buyers rebates of $3,500 or $4,500 for trading in older vehicles for new, more fuel-efficient models. Department officials met with car dealer trade groups on Wednesday to discuss how the program will eventually end and respond to complaints over a backlog of rebate payments to dealers.

This giant fiasco is the best reminder possible of the incompetence of govenrment. They cannot even give money away. The best line I heard was an old joke updated for Barack, "The Obama regime couldn't pour water out of a boot if the instructions were written on the heel."

So very true. That does not mean they will not use all the power of government to destroy their enemies though. When you watch the power-monger Rahn Emanuel in action, the joke goes away. They seem to save their efficiency for intimidation and pay back.
