Young Republican Convention Has Great Gubernatroial Debate

After I finished my speech at the First District Convention, I left immediately in order to go to the Young Republican Convention in Greensboro. I arrived just before the dinner was going to start and found several people in the hospitality suite. I got my credentials and spoke to some friends.

It was only a short time before the cocktail party preceding the debate got started, and everyone migrated down to that event fairly quickly.

The debate featured the four truly outstanding candidates for Governor that are competing for the Republican nomination, from left, Senator Fred Smith, Bill Graham, Judge Robert Orr and Mayor Pat McCrory.

Afterwards at the dinner, all of the congressional condidates got a chance to speak. The highlight of the event was Congressional Candidate Will Breazeale, running for NC's 7th Congressional District. A guest with him this night was Major Breazeale's translator from Iraq, Benny (Bangin Al Dosakee). Benny became an enthusiastic lover of America because of his relationship with Will in Iraq. He has now immigrated to America and has his green card. Benny keeps saying over and over how incredible it is to be free.
